The care providers at West Grove Clinic use a patient-centered approach to “meet you where you’re at” in your wellness journey.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a standard-of-care treatment designed to help individuals identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. Over time, these patterns can become deeply ingrained, making it difficult to recognize how thoughts, behaviors, and emotions influence one another. CBT provides clients with structured guidance to increase awareness of these patterns and learn practical strategies to challenge the thoughts that contribute to distress.

During CBT sessions, therapists teach skills that help clients reframe negative thinking, reduce anxiety, and build healthier behavioral responses. Clients often receive brief “homework” assignments between sessions, allowing them to practice new coping tools in real‑life situations. With consistent practice, these skills become second nature, empowering individuals to regain control over their mood, functioning, and overall well‑being.

At West Grove Clinic, CBT helps clients develop effective, long‑lasting strategies for managing anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns—offering a clear path toward improved emotional health and greater life satisfaction.

DBT

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) provides a tried-and-true treatment approach for individuals seeking support for emotional regulation, self‑injury, trauma, and complex mood disorders. Originally developed by psychologist Marsha M. Linehan to treat borderline personality disorder (BPD) and chronic suicidality, DBT is now widely used to address traumatic brain injuries (TBI), eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and other spectrum mood disorders. Research continues to show DBT’s effectiveness for sexual abuse survivors, individuals with chemical dependency, and clients experiencing intense or unstable emotions.

DBT integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies with skills in distress tolerance, mindfulness, acceptance, and emotional regulation. Together these techniques help clients manage overwhelming feelings, reduce harmful behaviors, and build healthier patterns of thinking. DBT is one of the first therapies proven through randomized clinical trials to significantly reduce suicidal behaviors and psychiatric hospitalizations in individuals with BPD.

At West Grove Clinic, DBT‑trained therapists provide structured, compassionate care to help clients strengthen coping skills, improve stability, and create meaningful, lasting change.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy at West Grove Clinic provides a gentle but effective approach for individuals seeking relief from trauma, anxiety, and other distressing experiences. EMDR is widely recognized as a treatment for Post‑Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), addiction, OCD, performance anxiety, sexual abuse, and a range of trauma‑related symptoms. Many clients experiencing intrusive memories, emotional distress, or physical tension connected to past events, find EMDR helps reduce these reactions by promoting a more neutral, grounded emotional state.

With more than 25 years of clinical use, EMDR is a leading trauma‑treatment modality and is endorsed by organizations such as the Department of Defense for supporting Veterans with PTSD. At West Grove Clinic, our trained EMDR therapists provide a safe, supportive environment to help clients process difficult experiences and move toward long‑term healing.

Art Therapy

Art therapy offers a warm, supportive space where creativity becomes a pathway to emotional healing. It’s a gentle, hands‑on approach that helps clients explore their feelings, reduce stress, and build confidence through artistic expression. No prior art experience needed.

Art therapy blends traditional therapeutic techniques with creative activities like drawing, painting, collage, and mixed media. Clients work alongside trained clinicians who guide them in using art to better understand their thoughts, behaviors, and emotional patterns. The process is calming, reflective, and often surprisingly empowering.

Art therapy can support people who are navigating emotions or moods that are difficult to identify or express such as traumatic life experiences pr feelings of being overwhelmed. It can also be helpful in substance use recovery or to develop identity and positive self-esteem.

By creating art, clients often discover new ways to express themselves, process emotions, and build coping skills that feel natural and sustainable.
